Transforming Havering

How is Havering doing?

Under Comprehensive Area Assessment, Havering Council has been judged by the Audit Commission to be 'performing well' with an organisational assessment score of 3 out of 4.

The Audit Commission noted in particular a track record of service improvement, clear and challenging ambitions and an effective and sustained performance culture.

Many of Havering's services are doing extremely well. Adult Social Care was awarded Grade 3 by the CQC as was Children's Services by Ofsted. Service performance is generally very good, with over two thirds of our national indicators being within the top two quartiles nationally.

We continuously monitor our performance as part of our Performance Management Framework, where Chief Officers report on performance every month for elected members to challenge and demand continuous improvement.

We carried out an interim Place Survey in 2009, which showed that satisfaction with services is strong. 75% of people also told us they were satisfied with Havering as a place to live. Refuse collection satisfaction stood at 83%, satisfaction with libraries at 72% and parks and open spaces at 72%. However, we are always striving to continually improve and we recognise that we still have some way to go in improving overall customer satisfaction with the Council.
